Music Ministry

All the baptized share in some manner the priesthood of Jesus Christ.  They exercise this at Mass by joining with Jesus, in the person of the ordained priest, offering sacrifice to the Father.  They may also serve in varrious liturgical ministries that they are able to exercise because of their baptismal union with Jesus Christ the High Priest.  These ministries include: Altar Server, Lector, Extraordinary Minister of Communion, and Music Ministry.

Music has always been an important part of the worship of God - and having a Sunday celebration without music would be unthinkable.  The Ministers of Music lead the congregation in singing as a form of worship and prayer, or they provide music and song to aid in personal prayer.  It is a very important ministry.
 

The following are ways in which you could share your musical gifts:

CANTORS: Cantors lead the community in song, proclaim the Responsorial Psalm at Mass, and may  sing solo pieces.  At some Masses a Cantor and Organist are the whole music ministry.
SINGERS:  Some Masses have a small group that sings (with one or more of the members serving as cantor) - these are generally the Sat 4:30 and Sunday 7:30am.
CONTEMPORARY MUSIC GROUP: At our 10:30am Sunday Mass a group sings in a contemporary style. This group is currently in transition and is going through some changes. 
INSTRUMENTALISTS: We welcome those who play an instrument to contact one of the music leaders below to see how yout talents may be beneficial to one of our groups.  Organists and other keyboardists, as well as other intruments may fit well in one of our groups.

Some groups are regular ministers at Masses.  For special occasions we sometimes put together other groups.  You may participate regularly, or lend your gifts to a special group for a holiday feast.
