The North Central Correctional Insitution (M.C.I. Gardner) lies within the boundaries of our parish. We therefore have a responsibility to minister to these individuals who are, indeed, members of our parish. Those in prision are among the most disenfranchized persons in our community. Despite what they may have done to hurt others, we recognize that we are all sinners, and we seek to provide pastoral care to them. We do this by coordinating with the Catholic chaplin of the prison and offer Mass and the Sacrament of Reconciliation at the prison and run Prayer Groups, Retreats, Studies, and Classes in order to help these men encounter Jesus Christ and practice their Catholic faith while incarcerated.
Parishioners who wish to participate in this unique ministry must attend a training session at the prision and have a background check completed. They will then work with the ministry Coordinator to determine what activities of ministry they are called to. We maintain a close connection to the Catholic chaplain of the prison who acts as our liason, and we support his efforts through the ministry we provide.
